The Ignorance of Liberals Continues to Amaze Me

Why Does George Bush Hate the Troops?

Really conservatives…’s just time to pick a position and stick to it!

She is only 25 and completely partisan and an ideologue, so I guess that is her excuse. However, I have tried on multiple occasions to recommend to her that she start reading Military Blogs in order to get a better idea of what the people in the military community think. She obviously has refused. Or is just ignoring what they say and is being a typically arrogant liberal Democrat in saying that she knows better than the military, a la “General Pelosi”.

As Scott Malensek, of the military blog Flopping Aces, noted in his post “Who is in Charge in Washington, D.C.?”, the Democrats for years have refused to read Intelligence reports from our nation’s Intelligence community, have refused to read the progress reports from the military Generals in Afghanistan and Iraq and have refused to even meet with the Generals to get updates, choosing instead to rely on the “mainstream” media reports and get their marching orders about military strategy from left-wing groups like CODE PINK and From her latest two posts, it seems this “crazy liberal” gets her information from the same pathetically ignorant, left-wing agenda-driven sources. Brilliant.

I noticed two things from skimming the comments sections of her blogs. (1) A couple military supporters (and even one liberal) tried valiantly to talk some sense into her, but failed and (2) most of her liberal friends agreed with her ignorant assessment of things.

Thus is the ignorant left-wing echo chamber here on MySpace. Instead of actually getting their information from the source, Military Blogs, they prefer to read left-wing “mainstream” media rags and left-wing agenda-driven sources such as

This is a prime example of why I gave up on discussing issues of the day with so-called liberals, leftists, so-called “progressives” and Democrat-voters. They all typically can be summed up here: How Modern Liberals Think.

The following are just a few posts from the military blog community concerning how they feel about the Democrats’ latest bill, which “crazy liberal” feels shows that President George W. Bush hates the troops, since he is against it. I guess these current and veteran military members also hate their fellow soldiers?

Good LT at The Jawa Report – Democrats Vote to Lose Iraq

After spending billions in taxpayer dollars to “pork the vote,” the democrats have voted for surrender by six votes.

Like we said all along, the Democrats are the party of defeat, surrender, and weakness. Our enemies laugh at us because of them.

Bush has his veto pen ready.

Curt at Flopping Aces – Coalition of the Bribed

Greyhawk at MilBlogs – Business as Usual

In short, the $20-billion plus in add-ons are totally legal, and the way we’ve always done business in the past. So there.

No argument here.

Update: I should add that Hoyer is scrambling to counter USA Today’s condemnation of the bill. They joined the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal who exposed the ugly particulars earlier in the week. The LA Times (and other Tribune group papers) joined the club today. “Members and the public have had a week to examine it” – indeed. Since many are rightfully upset about the “business as usual” aspect of the bill, defending the “new direction” as being “business as usual” might not be the best track.

Greyhawk at Milblogs – What If?

While many pundits would have us believe otherwise, the pork-laden bill to stop the surge and withdraw troops from Iraq is not the supplemental Iraq and Afghanistan funding bill that will ultimately (and hopefully soon) have to be debated in congress – it’s a political ploy, and a dangerous one to be conducted in time of war.

So what if congress refuses to pass or even debate such a bill in a timely manner? Here’s Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ answer.

Soldier’s Mom at MilBlogs – Gimme What You Got…

The Wall Street Journal carried an Editorial this past weekend called ‘Peanuts’ for Patraeus which covered the shameful pork spending that the Congress has added to the Supplemental Defence Appropriations Bill. I haven’t seen a lot of MSM covering the deplorable trough diving being done — $20 million to restore farmland damaged by freezing temperatures, $1.48 billion for livestock farmers, $74 million “to ensure proper storage for peanuts,” $25 million for spinach…

So I pulled out the provisions of the Bill on military and veterans health care and grabbed the trusty calculator and here’s some notes:

With all the news stories about the “scandal” at Walter Reed, here’s what I find in the appropriations for Health Programs (speak up if I missed anything): Defense Health Programs: $2.79 billion of which $2.29 billion shall be for operation and maintenance [only available until 9/30/2008 so spend it while ya got it!] and of which $500 million shall be for research, development, test and evaluation [available until 9/30/2009]. [note that the $2.79 billion for military health isn’t even 2x the Democrats’ $1.48 Billion for livestock farmers!]

Compensation & Pensions: $20 million for a pilot program for disability examinations [OK, remember, the Dems have included $25 million for spinach…]

Medical Services: $414.982 million, which includes $30 million for a new Level I comprehensive Polytrauma Center (doesn’t say where this will be); $56 million for prosthetics; $100 million for contract mental health care when appointment waiting times exceed 30 days [whiskey tango foxtrot??? there should be NO STRINGS for mental health care… it should be left to the VA how to spend this — like using some of this $100 million to HIRE AND TRAIN TEAMS IN THE TREATMENT OF COMBAT-RELATED PTSD NOW ‘CAUSE THE FLOOD GATES ARE ABOUT TO OPEN ON THE VA!!!!]; and $228.982 million shall be for the treatment of veterans of the global war on terror.

Medical Administration: $256.3 million, including $6.3 million for polytrauma support clinic teams for case management

Medical Facilities: $595.0 million, including $45 million for upgrades to polytrauma centers and $550 million for non-recurring maintenance as identified in the VA Facility Condition Assessment

Medical & Prosthetic Research: $35 million

Administrative Expenses: $62 million, including $1.25 million for digitization of records [yeah, that should digitize about 100 pages of records] and $60.75 million “for expenses related to hiring and training new claims processing personnel” [YES!!! wonderful! but not nearly enough!] [again… compare to the $74 million “to ensure proper storage for peanuts”!]< EM>

OK, that makes the VA total $1.38 billion — and the Dems have included $1.48 BILLION just for livestock farmers. More money for cows & horses than Veterans??? Yeah… you have not only shown us your priorities, you have shown us your stripes.

Blackfive – Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory

I sure hope that this legislation does not embolden the enemy, make General Petraeus’s job and our operations more difficult, etc.

…With Democrats holding 233 seats and Republicans with 201, Democrats were able to afford only 15 “no” votes. Accordingly, Pelosi, and her leadership team spent days trying to convince members that the bill was Congress’ best chance of forcing Bush to change course – an argument that was aided when they added more than $20 billion in domestic spending in an effort to lure votes.

They got a breakthrough Thursday when four of the bill’s most consistent critics said they would not stand in its way. California Democrats Lynn Woolsey, Diane Watson, Barbara Lee and Maxine Waters said they would help round up support for the bill despite their intention to personally vote against it because it would not end the war immediately…

Surrender monkeys.

It’s too bad that a majority of Congress doesn’t have the metal that our military does.

If you get a OIF or OEF troop reaction to this, email me. I’d like to know what they think of this support from our politicians.

Uncle Jimbo at BlackfiveFriday Freefly 04- Bribes for antiwar votes & Iraq news

Today’s Freefly starts with the, sadly, all too common vote buying to gain enough support for the Democrats plan to cut and walk one year from now. The Politico

That additional money was attractive for at least one lawmaker, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), an Out of Iraq Caucus member. His spokeswoman, Danielle Langone, cited $400 million for a one-year reauthorization of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.

“That’s pretty vital for our district, so we’ll be voting for the bill,” Langone said.

UPDATE: Looks like they are reeling the wacked out left back into the boat and may pass this sad legislation. I do hope it passes the Senate so W can put the veto boot to it.

Curt at Flopping Aces – The Amnesia of the Left

How soon all is forgotten:

“Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), a former Black Panther who now represents one of the most liberal districts in the nation, decided yesterday to support the Iraq war supplemental spending bill because he was promised help with an issue “unrelated” to the bill.”

Why wasn’t it just a few months ago something like this was written?

A Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner may not condition the inclusion of language to provide funding for a congressional earmark, a limited tax benefit, or a limited tariff benefit in any bill or joint resolution (or an accompanying report) or in any conference report on a bill or joint resolution (including an accompanying joint explanatory statement of managers) on any vote cast by another Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner.

Yup, that swamp is draining real fast.

Curt at Flopping Aces – An Act of Political Theater

Pelosi was able to add enough pork (cough…earmarks…cough) to push through a bill that was, as Bush described, nothing but an act of political theater.

House Democrats called for a new direction in Iraq on Friday, passing a measure ordering President Bush to withdraw U.S. combat troops from Iraq by September 2008.

Bush vowed to veto the measure if it makes it to his desk.

“A narrow majority in the House of Representatives abdicated its responsibility by passing a war spending bill that has no chance of becoming law and brings us no closer to getting our troops the resources they need to do their job,” Bush said from the White House Diplomatic Reception Room while joined by family members of veterans and troops in combat.

Bush called on Congress to fund the troops, saying the current bill contains “too much pork, too many conditions.”

“The purpose of the emergency war spending bill I requested was to provide our troops with vital funding. Instead, Democrats in the House, in an act of political theater, voted to substitute their judgment for that of our military commanders on the ground in Iraq.”

High-ranked senators also vowed Friday to strip the language from the bill that requires troop withdrawal.

Democrats won passage by a 218-212 vote on the $124 billion war spending bill, which will fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bush took a sledgehammer to their skulls this afternoon where he flat out told them, them being the defeatocrats, that they will not prevail.

Of course this matters not, Pelosi and company knew this would not succeed but they have to appease their gods…aka…and at least make it appear as if they are doing what they are told to do.

The WaPo did a good job of describing this new strategy:

The Democrats claim to have a mandate from voters to reverse the Bush administration’s policy in Iraq. Yet the leadership is ready to piece together the votes necessary to force a fateful turn in the war by using tactics usually dedicated to highway bills or the Army Corps of Engineers budget. The legislation pays more heed to a handful of peanut farmers than to the 24 million Iraqis who are living through a maelstrom initiated by the United States, the outcome of which could shape the future of the Middle East for decades.

They had to add 20 billion dollars worth of pork to get this passed by the slimmest of majorities and they really believe they have a mandate. What planet do these nimrods inhabit I wonder?

I mean come on, anyone with any common sense understands this bill was just a offering to the Democrats masters, hoping they will be satiated for a bit. But one politician took Mr. Cut and Run himself to task. Mr John Murtha, the man every Marine is ashamed to have to admit was a Marine, was taken to the mat by Sam Johnson today and it’s a must see:

[Go to Flopping Aces to see the YouTube video]

But it did little to change the outcome. Enough bribes were passed around to assure 2 Republicans would side with Pelosi (Wayne Gilchrest and Walter Jones) along with 216 Democrats.

The Senate will remove the timeline, and most likely much of the pork, so it will get signed into law. Lieberman will not side with the Democrats on this one and they know it. So in the end what was accomplished?

Dan Riehl thinks he knows:

Putting aside the dubious Constitutionality of the bill that may or may not be tested, it will need to survive the Senate and a possible veto first, is it really a victory when individuals who never voted to fund the war now vote for to fund it, knowing their rationale for doing so is going to be immediately stripped away?

I’m telling ya, nothing but theater. Go ahead you nimrods, celebrate the passing of this bill, burn a few soldier effigy’s and have a big friggin party with a 12 foot bong…..

Your attacks against this country and our soldiers does not go unnoticed.

Club For Growth calls out a few freshman politicians who ran on a platform of fiscal responsibility:

The Club for Growth denounced the 218 Democrats and 2 Republicans in the House of Representative who voted for the Iraq supplemental spending bill, containing $24 billion worth of wasteful pork-barrel projects. The Club specifically singled out freshmen Democratic Representatives Nancy Boyda (KS-2); Heath Schuler (NC-11); Nick Lampson (TX-22); Tim Mahoney (FL-22); and Harry Mitchell (AZ-5) who won their House seats on a campaign to restore fiscal responsibility to Congress and cut out earmarks. Instead these politicians caved to political pressure, throwing American taxpayers under the bus on their way down.

Ace of Spades HQ with a much needed history lesson:

Anyone remember the media firestorm over Tom DeLay’s promises of porks, and threats about payback, in regards to the passage of the prescription medicine bill?

No firestorm this time.

So if I have this right: It’s wrong for a Republican Majority Leader to cut side-deals and make threats regarding the passage of a purely domestic social welfare bill — so wrong the media was all but calling for a federal investigation — but it’s okay for a Democratic Speaker of the House to do precisely the same to secure a bill about war?

Do I have that right?

Yup, you have that right….
