So, apparently there is a poll out (wow, go figure, there seems to be a new poll every 5 freaking minutes, each showing a completely different freaking result) from Iowa showing for whom Iowans will vote in the Republican Primary this week. Here are the results:
Mike Huckabee – 32%
Mitt Romney – 26%
John McCain – 13%
Fred Thompson – 9%
Ron Paul – 9%
My reaction to this poll is the same as my reaction to all the gazillion other freaking polls that have been in the news for the past 2 freaking months: WHO.THE.HELL.CARES.
Last time I checked, my name was not Bill Clinton and I did not vote based on what polls stated. And since when did any of us care what anyone in Iowa thought about anything? Since when did any of us care about what anyone anywhere thought about anything? Before you make choices in life, do you first call up someone in Iowa or New Hampshire or South Carolina and ask them what they think? I know I sure as hell don’t. So why are some people doing that for their choice in President of the United States? Did you base your vote in 2004 on what people in Iowa or New Hampshire or South Carolina thought? So why are you doing it now?
You want a New Year resolution? How about deciding at midnight tonight for whom you are voting in your State’s Republican Primary. (Heck, Democrats can do this too.) And then barring your candidate drops dead before your Primary and is thus out of the Presidential Primary race (and, uh, dead), stick to your vote and vote for him/her on the date of your Primary. Ignore the ridiculous polls, ignore the biased political pundits with hidden agendas, ignore the agenda-driven mass media, ignore the last minute pandering and just stick to what you know and vote for your candidate.
We all know everything we need to know about all the candidates by now. Who the hell cares what fancy, expensive ads they put out to try to put more lipstick on their pig campaigns. Those of us who have been paying attention to politics for years, and who actually know what we stand for, already know all we need to know to choose a candidate. There is nothing that any of them can say that should be able to sway us, unless you are voting the Bill Clinton way instead of on principle.
So after you enjoy your midnight kiss and your New Year’s drink of choice, make your decision for your Party Candidate. You can then feel good that you will be able to have success in at least one New Year resolution.
The thought that hunters kill rabbits has NBC News chief foreign correspondent Andrea Mitchell “upset” and supposedly “squirming”. Yet, I don’t recall Ms. Mitchell (or any mass media journalist) “upset” over the idea of women killing their unborn babies for the convenience of it.
Later with his panel, an appalled Matthews noted how Huckabee “told a reporter that he loved to bag squirrels because he fried ’em up and ate ’em with biscuits and a Coca-Cola. What have we come to!”
Noticing how NBC News chief foreign correspondent Andrea Mitchell was squirming, Matthews asked her, “Are you upset by this Andrea? You must be!”
“Absolutely,” Mitchell confirmed, adding a unique sexist angle: “You don’t see any women out there with a gun.”
No, Andrea, most of you (liberal/leftist/”progressive”) women are not out there with guns shooting squirrels, because you are too busy laying with your legs wide open in abortion clinics getting babies sucked out of your body, at a rate of about 1 Million per year.
Excuse me if I prefer my President standing up for the rights of baby human beings rather than standing up for the rights of Bugs Bunny.
The trend in Iraq is completely positive with pretty much 7 straight months of declining U.S. military fatalities (126, 101, 78, 84, 65, 38, 37, 21), the lowest since the war began in 2003, yet what is the media headline?
You will also notice that the left-wing Huffington Post, a favorite of Leftists, Democrats and “Progressives” for their war effort news, also pushes the storyline of the mass media.
Now you know why I don’t watch the mass media and never read the mass media and have gotten my news from places such as NRO THE TANK and Gateway Pundit and other military blogs who report the facts more objectively than the mass media, whose stories are always slanted with a hoping-the-terrorists-win agenda.
I imagine Leftists like those at Huffington Post and those in the mass media to tell their kids when they get their report cards at the end of the year, after they have improved to achieve all A’s and B’s by the end of the year, “yeah, well, so what, overall this year, you did horribly, don’t you remember struggling in the beginning of the year and getting all D’s and then improving to all C’s? When you average it all out, this was still a very bad year for you, child”.
I think this is the first time in history that Leftists, Liberals and “Progressives” have idolized a woman who was pro-life.
Via James Taranto in WSJ’s Opinion Journal Best of the Web:
On Friday we noted that the National Organization for Women had responded to the assassination of Benazir Bhutto by ignoring it completely. But it’s not that NOW doesn’t remember the dead. A reader calls our attention to a statement on the organizations Web site titled “NOW Mourns Loss of Feminist Leader Judith Meuli.” We hadn’t heard of her, but it turns out she created “a line of feminist jewelry” and also donated a bundle to NOW:
Judith Meuli, 69, died at her home in California after a long battle against cancer. Meuli, a woman of many talents, edited the National NOW publication “Do it NOW” for many years with her partner Toni Carabillo (who died in 1997), was president of Los Angeles NOW, created with Carabillo a line of feminist jewelry that raised money for NOW and the Equal Rights Amendment campaign, and co-authored with Carabillo and June Bundy Csida “The Feminist Chronicles,” a detailed history of the modern women’s movement.
Several readers also called our attention to a LifeNews.com remembrance of Bhutto:
Bhutto was a member of an international pro-life women’s movement that understood abortion causes medical, mental health and other problems for women.
When Bhutto was the prime minister of Pakistan, she helped lead a delegation to the 1994 Cairo population conference that confronted abortion advocates looking to make abortion an international right.
“I dream . . . of a world where we can commit our social resources to the development of human life and not to its destruction,” she told the United Nations panel at the time.
No wonder NOW isn’t interested in Bhutto. A real feminist is one who is interested in feminine things like jewelry and abortion.
I have read a lot of leftists praising this woman as some sort of saint and martyr for human rights and freedom and democracy, when she was anything but. Considering these leftists are completely ignorant about the corrupt, power-hungry, Taliban-supporting past of this woman, I bet they are also ignorant that she was a pro-life, anti-abortion activist as well. heh
This is just despicable.
Read the whole story at Blackfive of this jackass Chicago lawyer Jay R. Grodner, who first keyed the car of Marine Sgt Mike McNulty, home on leave from Iraq until 02 JAN 2008, causing $2400 damage to the car (a felony) and now is trying to eff him over after offering only $100 to cover his deductible, forcing his insurance to cover the rest.
And he keyed his car deliberately, because he knew it belonged to a United States Marine.
If you are able to offer any legal advice, please contact Matt Burden at Blackfive.net: email@example.com.
UPDATE at 14:08 EST on 31 DEC 2007: Another interesting post I found in my trackbacks was this one at MorseHellHole: * Rogers Park Lawyer Goes Up Against Military Man (And Bloggers)
Interesting that this happened in a district that has an anti-military Alderman.
Blognotes: One of our Anti-war Alderman’s constituents damages a military man’s vehicle. This should really be interesting. Jay Grodner, living in a ward under the control of Joe Moore, a known anti-military politician, defaces a military mans vehicle. Is this what all military personal can expect when venturing into Joe Moore country? Has Joe Moore created a hate in Rogers Park towards military personal?
Also, I liked this guy’s response to someone who was trying to say this was BS and that Blackfive was a “propaganda” site:
While I do want to hear both sides, we do have a keyed car, a police report and an apparent dispute, sufficient for a hearing.
Alleged offending party is an attorney whose legal violations started about a month after he passed the bar (which is typical for IL, but I digress).
In response to the publicity, instead of posting a position on his site, or issuing any press release, he’s simply SHUT DOWN HIS SITE and DISCONNECTED ALL HIS NUMBERS. That’s costing him a lot of business.
And as someone who’s been in the “news” and in assorted locations to be part of stories about the military firsthand (meaning I was there, on duty, when a reporter or his paid lackey showed up), Black Five is far less a “propaganda organ” than say, the professional lying $!+bags at CNN, ABC, SeeBS or AP.
It doesn’t affect me directly yet, so I’m waiting to see.
But I hardly think some Marine keyed his own car, identified an innocent civilian as a perp and started all this just for fun or sympathy.
There is also this YouTube video about Alderman Joe Moore:
On July 31, 2007, Chicago City Alderman Joe Moore attempted to present over 300 Resolutions, adopted by cities, towns and states across the country, which demanded an end to the war in Iraq, to an official at a White House gate on Pennsylvania Ave. The request was denied by a White House functionary on dubious security grounds. Moore, along with John Cavanagh, the Director of the Institute for Policy Studies, (IPS), insisted to the White House bureaucrat that the Resolutions, which weren’t in any of kind of package, did not pose any kind of security risks whatsoever.

Cities for Peace is a project of the IPS. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the “Right of the People to Petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
