“Words Have Consequences” (When We Say So)

Via HotAir Headlines: Out: Relentless Bush-hatred. In: “Words have consequences.”

No calls to murder, for sure. And certainly no license for the suspect in Tiller’s death, Scott Roeder, to gun down the doctor last Sunday during services at a Wichita church.

But to suggest that O’Reilly should not hold himself accountable for his incendiary words is to ask too much.

Words have consequences.

So when Imams the world over preach hatred and mass murder and violence towards all non-Muslims in their mosques every Friday, 52 weeks a year, and then their flock goes out and heeds their words by mass murdering and firebombing embassies, Islam and Imams and mosques — and the words of the Koran — are definitely not to blame.

However, when Bill O’Reilly points out the evil of the practice of puncturing the skull of a baby, vacuuming its brains out and then vacuuming the rest of it out of the womb of a woman, and then some nutjob goes out and kills the man who does this for a living, THEN “words have consequences”.

Got it.

Great comment:

Which makes Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly all the more unbelievable when he holds himself harmless in creating the atmosphere that helped diminish the humanity of George Tiller, the Kansas doctor who performed late-term abortions.

No, murdering babies “helped diminish the humanity of George Tiller”. O’Reilly just made the knowledge more common.

The irony of people whining about “diminish[ing] the humanity” of people, from those who support an industry which is explicitly based on the lack of the sanctity of human life (complete lack of humanity, not just “diminish[ing] of humanity”).

And “performed late-term abortions”?  Come on.  The guy wasn’t on stage singing a song or doing a magic trick.  He was opening the legs of a woman, sticking scissors into her, puncturing the skull of a viable baby, killing it and then vacuuming out its brains and body parts from the womb of the woman.  Maybe instead of treating abortion as some sort of “performance”, we could call it what it is:  murder.
