AmeriCAN-DO Attitude

Are you an AmeriCAN or an AmeriCAN'T?

Smile … You’ve Been “Community Organized”

Absolutely excellent article about the absolute derangement of the “progressive”, Obama-worshiping Left: George W. Bush-by-Proxy Syndrome

Here’s an excerpt, but you definitely should read it all:

Now that Mr. Bush is quietly going about his retirement, this strain of rage – the GWB43 virus – has spread like wildfire, finding unsuspecting targets, each granting us greater perspective into what not long ago seemed like a mysterious phenomenon isolated only on our 43rd president.

The first person to catch the virus was Sarah Palin, whose family also was infected, including, unforgivably, her children.

Then it was Joe the Plumber, for asking a question.

Next were the Mormons.

Then it was Rush Limbaugh – who hit back.

Next, tax-day “tea party” attendees were “tea bagged.”

Then there was a beauty contestant.

And a Cambridge cop, too.

And now we have town-hall “mobs.”

Smile … you’ve been “community organized.”

When put on the media stage, these individuals and groups have been isolated for destruction for standing in the way of a resurgent modern progressive movement and for challenging its charismatic once-in-a-lifetime standard-bearer, Barack Obama.

This is their time, we’ve been told. And no one is going to stand in the way.

The origins of manufactured “politics of personal destruction” is Saul Alinsky, the mentor of a young Hillary Rodham, who wrote her 92-page Wellesley College senior thesis on the late Chicago-based “progressive” street agitator titled, “There Is Only the Fight.”

Mr. Obama and his Fighting Illini, Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod, have perfected Mr. Alinsky’s techniques as laid out in his guidebook to political warfare, “Rules for Radicals.” In plain language, we see how normal, decent and even private citizens become nationally vilified symbols overnight – all in the pursuit of progressive political victory.

As I said, READ.IT.ALL.

Coward No More. It’s On!

Great comment in response to this absolutely excellent post — a call to arms — by Dan Riehl: It’s All Alinsky All The Time, Now

I’m in. I was once one of those “middle ground” moderates emphasizing compromise and dialogue over defining principles. Grey is just so much softer than black/white. It’s an existence of sleepwalking trough life, unaware of costs and consequences, risks and reward. I was a coward.

9-11 and the Bush years changed me as well. That a decent man who’s single minded focus for 7+ years was to protect me and my family, could be so disgustingly treated by his political opposition and the traditional media, served as an awakening for me. I read, I listened, I watched, both sides.

One side encourages individual liberty, individual accountability, freedom to aspire to greatness, freedom to fail, freedom of thought, freedom of expression, thoughtful problem solving, self-responsibility, rule of law, faithfulness to our constitution, private charity, the sanctity of life, blind Lady Justice, the American dream — and helping others to achieve it.

The other side encourages? Political power. Achievement of that power by any means. Demagoguery, eg., global warming, racism, classism, taxation, health care. And any other issue that can be used to convince an unassuming public too consumed with their daily lives to realize that there are actually fellow Americans, in congress no less, who are making it their life’s work to destroy the very fabric of the freedoms described above, and to convert them into a collectivism where the individual is irrelevant and power is vested in an all-knowing few blinded by their own hubris, (see Democrat party reaction to their own constituents).

Coward no more. It’s on!

Sarah Palin is Wrong

It pains me to say it, but I wholeheartedly, vehemently disagree with Sarah Palin here (via Ace at Ace of Spades HQ):

“There are many disturbing details in the current bill that Washington is trying to rush through Congress, but we must stick to a discussion of the issues and not get sidetracked by tactics that can be accused of leading to intimidation or harassment,” Palin wrote. “Such tactics diminish our nation’s civil discourse which we need now more than ever because the fine print in this outrageous health care proposal must be understood clearly and not get lost in conscientious voters’ passion to want to make elected officials hear what we are saying. Let’s not give the proponents of nationalized health care any reason to criticize us.”

I’m sorry, but was Sarah Palin paying attention the last 8 freaking years? Was she paying attention during the campaign last year? Conservatives and GOP-voters have been trying their damndest to get out the FACTS about the economy, the war efforts and now healthcare and no matter what we say, how we say it, what we do or how we do it, we are smeared as racists, hatemongers, bigots, “right-wing extremists”, terrorists and now NAZIs and “un-American”. Just admitting one is a conservative or a GOP-supporter is a reason to receive criticism by these people!

Wake up and smell the fascism, Sarah Palin!

Some commenters at Ace of Spades HQ share my frustration:

How many times are we going to go down this road, and how far?

If one of the goals is “not to give them any reason to criticize us”, how exactly is that possible?

Did I miss the actual swastikas at the meetings?
Those paychecks for these phony protesters, who’s writing them and who’s cashing them?
What about the racism of the 0bama joker poster?
Or the “coded racism” of McCain’s campaign?
Or the super-sekret coded racism of every criticism of 0?

Did I miss something, or was there some agreement wherein the left heretofore will no longer “make sh#t up” whenever they need to smear conservatives?

Playing nice with your enemies does not win!

Maybe if the Dems had played nice and not compared George W Bush or
conservatives as nazis for the last eight years maybe the playing nice premise would sound like a good idea.

PLAYING NICE IS OVER!

Posted by: McLovin at August 10, 2009 11:34 AM

Exactly.

Ya know, one of the main reasons that I support Sarah Palin is that she has showed a willingness to smack down the Left, mass media and Democrats on their BS. If she is now going to turn around and say we need to censor what we say, how we say it, censor what we do and how we do it, in order to play by the Left’s Alinsky rules (“Make the opponent live up to their own rules”), then my support for her will be withdrawn.

Sarah Palin… meet Bill Whittle:  We Are in a Political Fight to the Death with People Who Will Stop at Nothing

Saul Alinski wrote a book called Rules for Radicals. Hillary Clinton wrote about it in her senior’s thesis. And if Hillary Clinton learned from it, Barack Obama taught from it: the term community organizer was coined by Alinski and was the centerpiece of his theory that the socialization of America could best be accomplished from within the system since Americans were alert to revolutions forced upon them from the outside.

One of the Rules for Radicals is Make the enemy live up to his/her own book of rules. Think about the genius of that. Just let that sink in. When a Republican has an ethics scandal, it’s “hypocrisy” and “double standards” and all the rest. But when a Clinton or a Pelosi or a Charley Rangel or a Chris Dodd or a Barney Frank or a William Jefferson has an ethics scandal, no one bats an eye. Why? Because of course they’re immoral! They’re Democrats.

Alinski could see that moral people have to be held to moral standards when immoral people do not. We’d better learn a lesson from this, right quick. …

Alinski and his followers want you to believe that if you fight dirty in response to people fighting dirty with you, then you have lost your morals and in fact your identity. But that’s a lie.

We are in a political fight to the death with people who will stop at nothingand I’m not talking about your average decent Democrat, but rather these Alinski radicals. And if we don’t face the same realization as those Marines on Guadalcanal and give back as brutally as we have taken, then we will lose.

Which is what they want. And if we do lose to these kind of tactics, there will be no more decent people left in politics. As of today, we’re one short already.

Also, see here: There is Absolutely No Precedent for this Nonsense

More:

Look at how once again we are letting the media define the terms of the debate. This is no longer about whether the bill is good or bad (in fact the bill has been forgotten). Instead it’s about how nasty those mean old protesters are! And we fall for it AGAIN! We continue to let them determine what we will be talking about.

ENOUGH!!!

Focus on what the point is: government run health care. Be polite to people if possible, but screw the congresscritters if they can’t take the heat. Above all, don’t devolve into a pointless argument about what is ok and isn’t ok at a townhall.

Posted by: Alex at August 10, 2009 11:40 AM

Let them speak… but don’t let them get away with bullsh#t. The Dems’ MO is to string BS after BS after BS together until they change the subject. Barney Frank is a master of this.

I love what the townhallers have done. Let the politicians talk. When they say something false, boo. It isn’t our fault that this results in them being unable to say two sentences in a row.

Posted by: AmishDude at August 10, 2009 11:41 AM

I don’t think that noting that it’s better tactics to remain calm when asking a question and then let the Congressperson lose his/her sh#t is the same as letting the other side frame the question. I am curious as to how the definition of “shouting” is being used. I don’t have the link to hand, but was the doctor who got screeched at by his congressman shouting? I don’t think so.

Also is shouting being used to refer to when the rep. is talking and people respond? Because call and response during a political meeting is totally freaking fair game. Saying something stupid and getting booed for it is completely within bounds. That’s not shutting someone up, that’s responding to idiocy.

I don’t know, have seen a lot of videos, the attitude of our “representatives” seems to be “come out swinging and ask questions later”. No one likes it when someone with whom you are expecting to have an honest conversation considers you an idiot who doesn’t know what is good for them. …

Posted by: muffy at August 10, 2009 11:49 AM

A-freaking-men to this:

“Let’s not give the proponents of nationalized health care any reason to criticize us.”

With all due respect, WTF are you talking about? The sons of bitches don’t even want to hear from us. If we lay down and die, go along with this bullsh#t, they won’t criticize us. Did the Founding Fathers worry about criticism from the British crown?

Their outlook is “our way or the highway and screw the uneducated dolts that have the gall to oppose our enlightened way”. Screw that.

Posted by: maddogg at August 10, 2009 11:53 AM

I disagree with the interpretation, but wholeheartedly agree with the last line:

I don’t think she is advocating not shouting. She is advocating doing what she does, smiling, looking the person right in the eye and politely reiterating your question or concern. She is encouraging discourse and warning people that when you disagree they will try to paint you as evil. but hek, if you are shouted down, then you damn well better speak up and shout louder.

Posted by: muffy at August 10, 2009 11:53 AM

I like this:

Nah, go ahead and be a dick.

But in a smart way. Be calm, but ask lots of irritating follow up questions and try to speak with just an edge of condescension in your voice.

“Congressman, are you sure you truly understand this plan? I’m not sure that you do. Let me read you a section.”

Be sure to mention that they work for you. Call them “your employee”.

Cause those skin-thinned idiots to erupt like that dummy up there in the video. Nothing pissed ’em off more than having their assumed superiority questioned.

Posted by: Warden at August 10, 2009 12:15 PM

Yep, looks like we have reached this stage. The Left and mass media push back with lies and smears, as they always do, and the Right caves:

Oh sh#t, don’t tell me we’ve reached the “conservatives start to worry about what the media will say and ultimately wuss out” stage. It looked for a while there like we may have actually learned that it doesn’t matter what we do, the media will always portray us in a bad light. So now we’ll be nice and the media will say “there’s no controversy so we don’t have to cover you anymore” and the dem talking points will once again dominate the news and we’ll lose.

Posted by: koopy at August 10, 2009 12:52 PM

Seems like people STILL just do.not.get.it. When we dare to even so much as BREATHE, it causes Obama, Democrats, the Left and mass media to deem us terrorists, NAZIs and “un-American”. WAKE.THE.HELL.UP!

“As for the effigy burning, etc. — well, it’s nice to give some vent to bloodyminded daydreams, but let’s face facts — the media lapdogs and their politico masters would jump on that like a bloody steak bone and be screaming “terrorists! terrorists! Ima skeered!” at even a hint of such a thing. Can’t let them do that.”

Like that makes a difference. Yes, caring what the MSM thinks is gonna get us some good coverage. Shit. We aren’t gonna win playing nice, it’s just that simple. And that Political Terrorist meme just ain’t gonna fly with Joe sixpack who stands to get his rump reemed with Zerocare. Let it get far enough, and there will be a full blown civil war and compared to that, burning a few effigys is gonna feel pretty tame.

Damned if you do… damned if you don’t. Ya gotta hand it to Axelgrease, Rahmbo and the state-run media complex – they’ve effectively dampened the effect of the townhall protests. Even Sarah’s bought into it, it would seem. I’m not sure what the proper tactic should be here, but going meekly into the good night ain’t gonna work either.

So Obama, Where are the C-SPAN Healthcare Discussions, Hmmm?

Via George Joyce at The American Thinker Blog:

At a town hall meeting in Chester, Va. back in August last year candidate Obama had this to say about the important value of public debate regarding health care:

“People say, ‘Well, you have this great health care plan, but how are you going to pass it? You know, it failed in ’93,’ And what I’ve said is, I’m going to have all the negotiations around a big table. We’ll have doctors and nurses and hospital administrators. Insurance companies, drug companies — they’ll get a seat at the table, they just won’t be able to buy every chair. But what we will do is, we’ll have the negotiations televised on C-SPAN, so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies. And so, that approach, I think is what is going to allow people to stay involved in this process.”

Just a couple of days ago, at a town hall occasion – again in Virginia – Mr. Obama had the following to say about value of public debate regarding his plan for the nation’s economy:

“I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess.”

Now, who could have guessed — based on Obama’s 2+ decade history of association with Racism, Black Liberation Theology, Communism, Marxism, Socialism, Saul Alinsky and Chicago-style THUG politics — that Obama was flat-out LYING during the campaign trail and that he would turn into a Chicago-style THUG as President? I mean, gee, it’s not like there was not AMPLE evidence of this man’s lack of character and history of this shiznit out there for anyone to see.

Yet, when I pointed all this out and warned people about this last year, I was called a racist, hate-monger and bigot and I was told that all those FACTS from Obama’s background were simply right-wing smears from Fox News Channel.

And now, instead of owning up to their utter stupidity, we have the mass media spouting lies about those opposed to Obamacare, calling them racists, extremists, terrorists and NAZIs. And, the President himself has said he doesn’t want to hear from us at all, he just wants us “out of the way” and sends out his union THUGS to make sure that happens.

Yeah, great job 52%.

Precedent Obamao and His Marxist Minions are Setting a Trap

With regards to the Obamao Administration’s new Tattle Tale policy:

I think this is a trap.

I have no doubts at all about that. Notice how they gave out an email address, rather than providing a web form for text entry?

They want to get emails with full headers. Then they know where you are. Anyone could fill in a web form using an anon proxy server in Zimbabwe or something and never be found.

It works two ways too – they’re obviously constructing an enemies list, and they’re refreshing their campaign donation sucker list at the same time.
