The Founding Fathers were Against Redistribution of Wealth

Via Bill Costello at The American Thinker: The ‘Your Money Is Not Yours’ Crowd

An excerpt:

Because your money is not yours, the government feels free to take it from you and redistribute it to others. President Obama expressed this belief when he said, “I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

However, those in government did not always support redistribution of wealth. The Founding Fathers were against it.

Thomas Jefferson observed:

To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to every one a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.

And James Madison:

That is not a just government, nor is property secure under it, where the property which a man has in his personal safety and personal liberty, is violated by arbitrary seizures of one class of citizens for the service of the rest.

And Samuel Adams:

The Utopian schemes of leveling, and a community of goods, are as visionary and impractical, as those which vest all property in the Crown, are arbitrary, despotic, and in our government unconstitutional.

The Founders would have supported the popular bumper sticker that says, “Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.” They believed that “[t]he proper role of government is to protect equal rights, not provide equal things,” according to The 5000 Year Leap, a publication of the National Center for Constitutional Studies.

Despite the intent of the Founders, those in government have been perpetuating the Ponzi scheme of transferring wealth from the productive class to everyone else. That the scheme is unsustainable is evidenced by the collapse of the modern European welfare state.

Why Sarah Palin Pisses Off Elitists

I left this comment at this post at Ace of Spades HQ in response to a comment about Charles Krauthammer once again putting down Sarah Palin:

“We might start by asking Sarah Palin to leave the room. I’ve got nothing against her. She’s a remarkable political talent. But there are no “death panels” in the Democratic health-care bills, and to say that there are is to debase the debate.

We also have to tell the defenders of the notorious Section 1233 of H.R. 3200 that it is not quite as benign as they pretend. To offer government reimbursement to any doctor who gives end-of-life counseling — whether or not the patient asked for it — is to create an incentive for such a chat.”

From CK’s article today. I like CK and usually agree with much of his reasoning. However, I’m growing tired of “triangulation” as an argument and political tool. The inability to get messy and get involved in the fracas is what makes “elites” like Peggy, KP, CBuck, and sometimes CK ineffective when it comes to actually moving people. Nuance is opiate for the elites but emotion based on reasoned intellect gets people motivated and will be the only thing that slays this dragon.

Sarah Palin’s “death-panel” f/b post may well become the turning point of this fight. CK’s attempt to triangulate and nuance the argument it to death, so to speak, can’t change that point.

Posted by: The Hammer at August 21, 2009 11:36 AM

Here was my response:

I am beginning to believe that the elites — Noonan, Parker, Buckley, Krauthammer, etc — are simply jealous of Sarah Palin. Jealous that an average citizen, without their Ivy League bonafides, has been able to rise to such political success — Mayor, energy industry, Governor — and connect in a way with the American people that these elites have never been able to do. So, instead of treating her as an equal, as she truly has earned through her actions and success, they all still look down upon her as some sort of peon, unworthy of being treated on the same level as their elitist selves.

And the more these elitists attack Sarah Palin, the more people take it as an attack on all average Americans. Considering Sarah Palin broke the mold of what it takes to be successful in politics — she was just some average working mom who got fed up with corruption in politics in her children’s school, so she ran for PTA, then got fed up with the corruption in her city, so ran for Mayor, then got went into the energy industry to make a difference and resigned when she realized she was being used and not given the power to make the difference she wanted, then got fed up with corruption in her State and took on her own political Party and ran for Governor to clean up the State… and succeeded in all those endeavors — ie, don’t need the Ivy League pedigree and all the inside connections and corruption, etc, many Americans see themselves in Sarah Palin. If Barack Obama represented the opportunity for Blacks to rise to success in politics, Sarah Palin represents the opportunity for an average American fed up with politics and wanting to make a difference to rise to success in politics.

I think she tears down the ideology of these elistists that only they can become powerful in politics and only they are worthy to discuss such ideas and policies and ideologies in America. She pisses them off, because she makes them realize that we really don’t need these elitists anymore to explain things to us peons. We can research and understand it on our own.

Thus, the smackdown of Sarah Palin basically represents the elitist smackdown of the rise of average Americans. Elitists know that if average Americans realize that they can figure things out on their own and don’t need to go to elitists to have everything explained to them, then they are deemed irrelevant.

It’s similar to the mass media’s smackdown of the blogosphere, when they were rightfully worried that the rise of the blogosphere — citizen journalism — would make them irrelevant.

The Democrat Party: A Criminal Organization Masquerading as a Political Party

I have been saying this for MONTHS now. Conservatives just don’t get it (yes, I am looking at you, Ace and DrewM at Ace of Spades HQ and you, AllahPundit and Ed Morrissey at And I would add that not only is the Democrat Party and the Left the enemy, but so too is the mass media. Until conservatives understand that WE.ARE.AT.WAR in this country (politically), we stand no chance to get our country back from the radicals.

Yes, my friends, it’s once again time to quote Sean Connery’s famous speech from The Untouchables, written by David Mamet — the lecture the veteran Chicago cop gives a wet-behind-the-ears Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner, back when he was a movie star) while they sit in a church pew. “You want to get Capone? Here’s how you get him: he pulls a knife, you pull a gun, he sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That’s the Chicago way!” If you just think of us — liberal Democrats — as Capone you’ll begin to understand what we’re up to. And we just put one of yours in the morgue.

I don’t know why I’m telling you this, but maybe now you’re beginning to understand the high-stakes game we’re playing here. This ain’t John McCain’s logrolling senatorial club any more. This is a deadly serious attempt to realize the vision of the 1960s and to fundamentally transform the United States of America. This is the fusion of Communist dogma, high ideals, gangster tactics, and a stunning amount of self-loathing. For the first time in history, the patrician class is deliberately selling its own country down the river just to prove a point: that, yes, we can! This country stinks and we won’t be happy until we’ve forced you to admit it.

In other words, stop thinking of the Democratic Party as merely a political party, because it’s much more than that. We’re not just the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition. Not just the party of Aaron Burr, Boss Tweed, Richard J. Croker, Bull Connor, Chris Dodd, Richard Daley, Bill Ayers, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II. Not just the party of Kendall “Agent 202” Myers, the State Department official recruited as a Cuban spy along with his wife during the Carter administration. Rather, think of the Democratic Party as what it really is: a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.

If you had any sense, you would start using our tactics against us. After all, you have a few lawyers on your side. Sue us. File frivolous ethics complaints against all our elected officials until, like Sarah, they go broke from defending themselves. (David Paterson would be a good place to start.) Challenge the constitutionality of BO2’s legion of fill-in-the-blank czars — none of whom have to be confirmed, or even pass a security check. (Come to think of it, neither did Barry.) Let slip your own journalistic dogs of war, assuming you have any, to find Barry’s birth certificate, his college transcripts, whether he applied to Occidental as a foreign student, and on which passport he traveled in 1981 to Pakistan with his friend Wahid Hamid, for starters.

You might also want to think about interviewing New York literary agent Jane Dystel, who a) contacted the totally unknown Obama in the wake of an adulatory New York Times piece in 1990 and b) got him a $125,000 advance for a memoir that c) he couldn’t write, even after a long sojourn in Bali, which d) got the contract canceled, whereupon e) Dystel got him $40,000 from another publisher, following which f) the book finally came out to glowing reviews and g) Obama fired her. Wouldn’t she have an interesting story to tell?

Of course, you won’t. You’re too nice, too enamored of history and tradition to realize that the rules have changed. Remember, I live and work in a town where, “Hello, he lied,” isn’t a joke; we men of the Left are perfectly comfortable lying, cheating, and stealing — hello, Senator Franken! — in order to attain and keep political power. Not for nothing is one of our mottos, “By Any Means Necessary.” You see, we’re the good guys, and for us the ends always justify the means. We are, literally, shameless, which is why Bill Clinton is now a multi-millionaire and Eliot Spitzer is already on the comeback trail.

In Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, “the fourth rule is: Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.” This is the book that “Reset” Rodham (what ever happened to her?) and BHO II grew up reading and continue to live by. If you don’t understand that that’s the way we see you — as the enemy — then you’re too dumb to survive. Remember that for us politics is not just an avocation, or even just a job, but our life. We literally stay awake nights thinking up ways to screw you. And one of the ways we do that is by religiously observing Alinsky’s Rule No. 4.

Just adding a few comments I left at Ace of Spades HQ, as I was incredulous (to put it lightly) that Ace himself and many of his commentors actually did not understand this article:

“The important thing is the hate.”

Posted by: ace at July 07, 2009 02:04 PM

Bingo. That is the entire point. The Left, Democrats and mass media HATE us. Hate conservatives, hate Republicans, hate non-elites, hate Uncle Toms, hate Pro-lifers, etc etc etc. And they use that hate to utterly destroy us “by any means necessary”. The ends justify the means.

And yet, I would say most people on our side STILL do not get this. The fact that you are baffled by this article shows you don’t understand it, or refuse to admit it.

People refuse to admit that the Left intends to destroy this country and remake it in their own communist image and they will do it by any means necessary and tear down and destroy anyone who tries to get in their way, Sarah Palin was simply the first. If anyone else gets as popular with conservatives, they will Palin-ize them as well. And the next one and then next one and the next one, getting even more dirty and despicable each time.

UNTIL people wake up and realize this is our current atmosphere with which we have to deal.

That’s why many of us are pissed off about many of you who so easily discarded Sarah Palin (and refused to stand with Rush “I hope he fails” before that). Because it shows you STILL just don’t get what’s going on in this country.

Which shocks me, since I know you all have been paying attention to what has been going on the last 8 years. I just don’t understand anyone who does not realize that the Left is our enemy, the Democrat socialists and communists are our enemies and the mass media is our enemy.

Many out there call that wacko talk and conspiracy talk. Seriously? A mass media outlet cooking up fake documents to take down a sitting President? And the thousands of other mass coordinated attacks of anyone GOP or conservative and mass coordinated apologizing and covering up for anyone DEM or liberal? Come on, wake up.

We are at (political) war here.

The fact that that is flying over the heads of ace and others here shows that they still don’t understand that. Very disheartening.

#89 Michael in MI

Some of us do get that, which is why Val-U-Rite is more important than water.

Look: We still know more about Joe the Plumber than any of the plants Dr. Utopia has called on at his town halls — that’s sad and pathetic. Their fucking shills, hacks and acolytes shift in and out of the propaganda sets and no one, not one of the GOP dares expose them.

Ace ditched his data-mining project that would have done this, that we who still give a shit about this country could have done what needs done — and for what? Scary letter from an attorney, I suppose.

Read any lefty blog and you will come to understand that as long as there is one, single person in the United States that calls themselves a Republican, they will not rest: They intend, they wish, they plan (many of them) to exterminate–literally, not just figuratively–anyone who calls themselves Republican or conservative. And they, the cowards, the sidelong, shuffling bastards have and are wielding the lumbering machinery of government to do so. So long as any Republican lives, every failure, every evil, every crime will be nailed to his back; for it is his failure to complete their perfection that caused the ill.

If you don’t get that, if you think, “Oh, that’s just crazy talk from Looney Town, it’s just a mild difference of opinion; the people of the two parties are mostly the same.” you are so stupid I imagine you have to remind yourself to breath.

Posted by: jimmuy8 at July 07, 2009 02:41 PM

“That’s the thing. We don’t even need to play dirty. There’s no reason to lower ourselves to their level.

They file baseless ethics complaints. We should file real ones targeting actual ethics violations. We don’t.

They lie like mad about us. We could tell the truth about them. We don’t.

Recriminations about how we don’t fight dirty enough are missing the point. We don’t even fight -fair-.

Yep. And this relates to the Rep. King thread. What he said was considered mean. People come out of the woodwork to scream that he is mean. Squishy republicans tell him to shut up because he makes us look mean.

The squishes think we lose votes becuase we are PERCEIVED as mean but the truth is we are PAINTED to be mean. It doesn’t matter what we say, it will be twisted to be mean. So why the hell not tell the truth? Bush wouldn’t even prosecute criminal vandalism of the F**KING WHITE HOUSE because he wanted to be a uniter. How did that work out for him?

Posted by: kidney at July 07, 2009 02:58 PM

By the way, if people can’t figure out the article, I’ll point out what should be obvious. The article is in National Review (the conservative magazine). It’s obviously written by a conservative who is pretending to write from the perspective of an honest radical Democrapper. By portraying what Democrats really believe, the author illustrates to his fellow conservatives what they are up against. Namely, the other sides hates you. Despises you. Will dance on the grave of your newborn baby. That level of hatred. I can’t believe anyone couldn’t figure that out.

Obama’s Actions Need to be Put into Context with His Radical Background

I left this comment at this post at HotAir regarding Obama’s recent despicable actions in legitimizing the tyrant Hugo Chavez in Venezuela: Should we scold Obama for shaking Chavez’ hand?

“Letting Ortega’s rant pass with just a quip about its length, though, deserves some scorn. If the President doesn’t want to defend his country at these international gatherings from unfair diatribes, what’s the point of attending at all?”

Ed — Why would Obama *not* give Ortega’s rant a pass, when he clearly agrees with it? He sat in TUCC for 20 years listening to similar crap and agreed with it. His background clearly shows that he agrees with America’s enemies about America. What’s the point of attending? To show his allegiance with these people, duh.

Have you and everyone else just decided to not put anything Obama has been doing the last 2 years into context with his 2-decade background of being mentored by racists, socialists, communists, Marxists and America-haters?

Seriously, wake up. Why is anyone surprised here? The man agrees with our enemies. If you need to, go back and read up on Obama’s background, read up on Rev Wright’s mentoring of him, read up on Billy Ayers’ mentoring of him, read up on all the policies and America-hating with which Obama agrees with his mentors and these enemies of capitalism and America.

Please, stop being so dense as to why Obama is doing this stuff. It is plainly obvious: he agrees with them.

Obama isn’t apologizing about the last 8 years of the Bush Administration, he’s apologizing for America’s entire history. Obama’s CHANGE is not about changing and transforming America back to Clinton from Bush, but changing and transforming the America of the last 200+ years into a new Obama America, which is the vision of Wright, Ayers and people such as Chavez and Castro.

Please, stop looking at this in a gawddamned political vacuum and put this in proper context. We are never going to wake people up to this man’s plans for America and prevent it from happening, by getting enough people to vote him out of office, if we can’t even build up the courage to call him out for what he is.

Upon reading a few more comments, I added this one:

“The ‘point’ of attending the conference was to bring the US down to the level of the banana republics.”

notagool on April 20, 2009 at 6:16 PM

2 years of campaigning, exposing 2+ decades of his radical Leftist background, and 5 months in office as President, and usually intelligent bloggers on the Right *still* cannot figure out why Obama does what he does. If even righty bloggers like Ed are still clueless, — or continuing to play dumb — then it’s no surprise that 60+ million Americans were clueless back in November (and the vast majority of those people are still bowing down and worshiping at the altar of Obama to this day).

This really is sad. Ed, I respect your blogging and op-eds a great deal, but this playing dumb about why Obama is doing what he is doing is really getting old. Not just by you, mind you, but by most bloggers and pundits on the Right. 2+ damn decades of background. Come on! Add it all up and connect the damn dots already, would you please?

This is like what the Left does with Operation Iraqi Freedom and the “War on Terror”. They ignore 10-15 years of terrorism and Saddam’s actions leading up to 2001-2003 and call it all BS. That is exactly what you and many others on the right are now doing with Obama. You’re ignoring 2+ decades of his background and all the corruption and lies during his campaign and just analyzing his actions as President in a political vacuum. I expect this kind of nonsense from the Left, not the Right.

It is Time to Wake Up and Smell the Communism, People

I respect David Horowitz a great deal for his collection of work and ideological progression from basically communism to conservatism. In fact, his FrontPageMagazine site is a weekly read of mine. However, in his latest piece, I have to strongly take issue with his request that essentially we need to calm down about the creeping Communism in this country, directed by President Teleprompter himself.

Here is his article, via HotAir headlines: Obama Derangement Syndrome

It is also true Obama has ceded his domestic economic agenda to the House Democrats and spent a lot of money in the process. But what’s the surprise in this? After all, Bush and McCain both proposed (and in Bush’s case pushed through) massive government giveaways (which amount to government takeovers as well). This is bad, but it doesn’t make Obama a closet Mussolini, however deplorable the conservatives among us may regard it. Moreover, he’s already run into political resistance even within his own party. Charlie Rangel has made it clear that the itemized deduction tax hike is not going through his committee – and that should tell you that the American system, the one the Founders created, is still in place.

Even as astute a conservative thinker as Mark Steyn has been swept up in the tide that thinks Obama is a “transformative” radical. But look again at his approach to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In both cases, as noted, he is carrying out the Bush policies – the same that he once joined his fellow Democrats in condemning. And that should be reassuring to anyone concerned about where he is heading as commander-in-chief.

In other words, while it’s reasonable to be unhappy with a Democratic administration and even concerned because the Democrats are now a socialist party in the European sense, we are not witnessing the coming of the anti-Christ.

Here are my comments:

Wasn’t Winston Churchill considered a kook to have “derangement syndrome” when he shouted his warnings of impending doom way back when…

People are trying to warn the nation and the world about Obama destroying this country and yet we are told to sit down and shut up and relax, because we just have “ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome)” and things are not that bad. Brilliant.

Michael in MI on March 30, 2009 at 10:57 PM

Seriously, have people completely wiped from their memories Obama’s 2 DECADES of ideological mentoring from Socialists, Communists, Marxists and Racists, not to mention America-hating domestic terrorists? Do people honestly think that during those 20 years of learning and forming his views of America and views of capitalism that he didn’t become a Socialist/Communist/Marxist? Do people forget that he has studied the Saul Alinsky model of Rules for Radicals and the Cloward-Piven strategy? Did all that just go away as soon as he became President and now he gets a clean slate and we are to forget that he trained and studied and planned for this exact moment to ENACT all that he has learned and planned?

Have people gone mad?!?

Sorry, those of us who point this shit out do not have “ODS”, we are looking at fucking reality. For people to sit there and tell us to calm down after 20 years of background on this RADICAL — who has blatantly promised to transform this nation — and after his RADICAL actions during his first 3 months in office, that’s just ridiculous and unacceptable.

People need to wake the hell up and open their gawd damned eyes and STOP this shite before it’s too late. We should not sit here and wait and wait and wait and remain calm while a gawd damned Communist transforms our country before our very eyes and then we’re at the point that it is too late.

Rush sounded the fucking alarm to PREVENT this shit way back in January and here we are 3 months later, after 3 months of RADICAL transformation of this nation and we’re squabbling about ODS? Are you fucking kidding me?!?
